Informativa sulla privacy
Last updated: April 2026
StudyCheetah ("we", "our", or "us") is an exam preparation platform. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
1. Data we collect and store
We collect and store only what is needed to provide and improve our service.
- Account information: Email address, name, and (if you sign up with email) a hashed password. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email and name from the provider and may store a profile picture URL. We store whether your email is verified and, when applicable, temporary verification codes used only for account verification.
- Subscription and billing: Subscription tier (e.g. free or unlimited), status, purchase entitlement, renewal status, billing period, and related identifiers. Web subscriptions may include Stripe customer and subscription identifiers. iOS subscriptions may include Apple App Store and RevenueCat identifiers, entitlement status, product identifiers, transaction status, renewal status, and current period information. We do not store your full payment card details; payment data is handled by Stripe or Apple, depending on where you purchase.
- Preferences and usage: In-app preferences (e.g. notifications, daily reminders, theme, study goals), optional onboarding answers (e.g. how you heard about us, language, student type), product interactions, feature usage, paywall and onboarding events, and performance or diagnostic information. We store study streak data (e.g. current and longest streak, last study date) to show your progress.
- Courses and study kits: Course names, descriptions, exam dates, and study kit names and configurations. We store which materials (documents or links) you add to each study kit and the status of generated tools (e.g. notes, flashcards, quizzes).
- Documents and content: When you upload files (e.g. PDFs, documents, images), we store the file in secure cloud or object storage, along with metadata such as filename, file type, size, and processing status. We may store extracted text and, for audio or video, transcriptions, so we can generate study materials. We also store the study content we generate from your materials (notes, flashcards, quizzes, mock exams, etc.) in our databases.
- Chat and support: If you use in-app chat (e.g. within a study kit), we store conversation threads so we can provide context-aware help.
2. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Provide the StudyCheetah service (courses, study kits, generated content, and features like the study timer and streaks).
- Process your materials with AI to generate notes, flashcards, quizzes, and related content.
- Send you transactional emails (e.g. verification, welcome, password reset) and, if you have opted in, product or reminder emails.
- Process payments, verify entitlements, restore purchases, and manage subscriptions via Stripe, Apple, and RevenueCat.
- Understand how the product is used (e.g. via product analytics, onboarding events, paywall events, and diagnostics) so we can improve the service.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your content or data for advertising targeting or for training third-party AI models beyond what is needed to power your study tools.
3. Third-party services
We use a limited set of trusted providers to run the service. Each processes data only as needed for the function they provide:
- Resend — Sending transactional and optional marketing emails.
- Stripe — Web payment processing and subscription management. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to payment data handled by Stripe.
- Apple App Store / In-App Purchase — Processing iOS purchases, renewals, refunds, subscription management, and purchase restoration. Apple's own privacy terms apply to payment and App Store account data handled by Apple.
- RevenueCat — Managing mobile subscription entitlements, purchase status, product identifiers, renewal status, customer identifiers, and purchase restoration across devices.
- Vercel and cloud storage providers — Hosting, application infrastructure, and file storage (e.g. uploaded documents, profile pictures, and related assets).
- OpenAI — Processing your materials and generating study content. Content is sent to OpenAI only to produce your notes, flashcards, quizzes, and similar outputs.
- AssemblyAI — Transcribing audio or video materials when you upload or link supported audio/video content.
- Google and Apple — Authentication when you choose to sign in with Google or Apple.
- PostHog — Product analytics (e.g. feature usage, onboarding funnels, and performance diagnostics). We may use a EU-hosted instance. You can control cookie and analytics behavior via your browser settings where available.
These providers are bound by their own privacy and data processing terms. We choose them with data protection and security in mind, and we expect providers that process personal data for us to protect it in a manner consistent with this policy and applicable law.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functions such as keeping you logged in (session and authentication). We do not use third-party advertising cookies. When we use analytics (e.g. PostHog), we do so to improve the product, understand onboarding and paywall performance, detect issues, and measure feature usage, not to track you across the web for ads.
5. Data retention and deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. You can delete your account and associated study data from within the app where available, or contact us at the address below for help. Account deletion removes your account, courses, documents, generated content, study progress, and support requests from active systems, subject to legal, security, billing, and backup retention requirements. Deleting your StudyCheetah account does not automatically cancel an active Apple subscription; Apple subscriptions must be managed through your Apple ID.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest where applicable, secure authentication, and access controls. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We restrict access to personal data to those who need it to operate and support the service.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Export — You can export your account and study data (e.g. profile, courses, documents metadata, generated content) from the app or via our export feature where available.
- Correction — Update your account details (e.g. name, email, preferences) in settings.
- Deletion — Delete your account in the app where available, or request deletion by contacting us.
- Opt-out of marketing — Unsubscribe from non-essential emails via the link in those emails or via your account preferences.
- Analytics choices — Use available in-app or web controls to manage optional analytics where provided. You can also contact us for help with privacy choices.
To exercise these rights or ask questions about your data, contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time and in line with applicable law.
8. International transfers
Our infrastructure and some of our providers may be located outside your country. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions) as required by applicable law.
9. Children
StudyCheetah is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and, for material changes, we may notify you by email or through the app. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.
11. Contact
